Revised Quest For The Seasoned Traveller

1988年にQ-Tip、Phife Dawg、Ali Shaheed Muhammad、Jarobi Whiteによって結成されたA Tribe Called Quest（Jarobi Whiteはファーストアルバムのリリース後に脱退）。Gang StarrやDe La Soulと並んで、ジャズ・ラップのスタイルを確立したと言われる。本作は、デビューアルバム『People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm』(1990)、セカンド・アルバム『The Low End Theory』(1991)の後にリリースされたリミックスアルバム。「I Left My Wallet in El Segundo (Vampire Mix)」では、当時Beats InternationalのNorman Cookが、「Scenario (Young Nation Mix)」ではYoung DiscipesのJnr. Nelsonがリミックスを手がけている。このように、英国のグラウンド・ビート〜アシッド・ジャズのムーヴメントとの関わりが、アメリカン・ジャズ・ラップには見出せる。ジャズを流用するスタイルは、なぜ、この時期にグローバルな規模で同時多発的に巻き起こったのか？そんな疑問を呼び起こす一枚。
ちなみに、A Tribe Called Questは、98年に解散、2006年には再結成している。
